Book projects due Friday!

Class started with everyone writing the homework and agenda down in their binder reminders. Then, Ms. Nakada called Nylah up to read her blog. She was the first person to make no mistakes, and Ms. Nakada gave period two one more point on the board. Now we have six points!

Next, it was reader's workshop and the class was very quiet. Ms. Nakada checked our quote, question, and song of the week in our journals. After that, she wrote a "caught reading banned books" sign on the board with a height marker and asked if anyone wanted to show off their banned book. She showed us pictures of students from five to six years ago.

Next, we got out our notebooks and "The Poverty Myth" and talked about the thesis. The thesis is: "We have touted the myth that if you are low-income, you can't achieve." We then discussed the lead, or hook which is about the story of Brenna Reed, who's teacher called her a nasty word. Ms. Nakada then started a new page because she had "Tuesday morning handwriting," and the class had a debate about why some words have silent letters, like the "k" in knife. It got quite loud. Then, the bell rang, and it was time to go to nutrition.

And of course, I have to put Caleb in the blog.

I'm getting a new cat today! His name is Chase.♡
